Mexican Workforce

The workforce is part of everyday life in the U.S., over 159, 286 people of the U.S. population is in the workforce today. Although these may be normal patterns for many Americans families, have you ever wondered what it’s like in other countries?

In Mexico the employment rate is one of the lowest in the world and even more so for women. Although it might seem like there are a lot of successful working women in Mexico, there are many high expectations based off of society that put women under pressure more than men. Most women in Mexico have been fighting these expectations more recently and have been making significant progress in the work industry. in many cases women are not being hired because of their gender, making less than half of women employed. In 2011 40% of women were working in Mexico, and now the employment rate for women is more than 45%. Even though the employment rate has increased over the years there is still an unemployment rate. although the unemployment rate has gone up for both genders, it has been skyrocketing in the past couple of years. Men’s employment rate has gone up about 1%, women’s employment rate has gone up about 2%. In most cases women have a harder time getting a job and keeping it.

Many statistics have shown growth in the workforce for women, but still many cases have shown that they still receive much criticism. Most stereotypical expectations from past years still live on today in Mexican society. Women are expected to clean the house, pick up the children from school, and also make dinner for their families every night. This may seem normal for women, but handling a full time job and set expectations can still be hard. The workforce is tough for women, and can be complicated at some times, but women are ready to participate in mexican society and are ready to receive credit.
